Although I'm tempted to ignore the fact that another birthday has come and gone, I do want to thank the well-wishers and the gift-givers. Among the gifts I received was the new book by Christian suspense author Ted Dekker, titled "Showdown." While I look forward to reading the book, I'm more excited by two other pieces of information that I came across today - both involving Ted Dekker.
It appears that two of the Christian market's best selling authors are collaborating on their next book. Frank Peretti, author of "This Present Darkness" and many other books that have sold millions of copies, is collaborating with Ted Dekker on a release from Thomas Nelson entitled "House." Although the plot sounds eerily similiar to a recent theatrical release ("Saw II"), it's sure to have a spiritual bent. A thriller/horror story with a Christian message...interesting.
In other news, apparently one of Ted's books is going to be made into a movie. "Thr3e" should be hitting theatres in September of this year, although I wasn't able to find out for sure if was going to be a wide release, a limited release, or a straight to DVD release. The book was good (although I think he may have "borrowed" the idea from a line in Charlie Kaufman's "Adaptation"), but it would be a challenge to film. Still, I look forward to seeing elements of the story were handled, and whether or not it can ride the wave created by "Passion" and "The Chronicles of Narnia," or whether it's fated for the bargain bin of Family Christian stores like "Love Comes Softly" and "Left Behind."
And in case you were thoroughly bored by this post because you've never read anything by Ted Dekker or Frank Peretti, then you have to read "This Present Darkness" by Frank Peretti and "Blessed Child" by Ted Dekker and Bill Bright. That should put you on a healthy dose of both authors to take you into spring.

You know how much I love Dekker. He has a 4 book series “The Martyr’s Song” can be read in any order although I think that there is a logical order, at least for my taste. It is extremely touching and certainly challenges you to stand up for your faith in ways most of us question “If I was in that situtation…would I”. I pray that I would.
“Love” the Dekker books!!! Actually your mom put me on to him, after he was mentioned at Bible study last year.
Reading Heaven’s Wager now.
Still my favorites remain—Blessed Child & A Man called Blessed. (ooftah!)
