If my neighbors are watching, then I'm sure I'm eliciting some concern. I am sitting in my car, which is sitting outside of my open garage. Not only am I sitting in my running car, but I'm sitting in the passenger sear, illuminated by my open laptop that I type on now. There is a reason for my strange behavior. I'm in the passenger seat because it's hard to fit the laptop on my lap with the steering wheel in the way. I have the car running outside of the garage because I can't pick up satellite radio inside the garage, and if I'm going to write about my new satellite radio, I thought I should be listening to it.
I've wanted satellite radio for awhile, especially considering the amount of time I spend in my car on a daily basis, but I didn't get it sooner because all of the available radios took up such a large amount of space in the car, and since I use my car to show clients homes, it was important that the radio be unobtrusive. The hardest part of achieving that is the design of the inputs for the satellite radios; each radio at the very least has an input for an antenna wire and a power cord, and since it's an aftermarket product, it's relatively difficult to mount the radio without exposing several connections.
All of that said, I'm pretty proud of the way that I set it up inside my car. You can't really see any exposed wires, and the radio itself is almost imperceptable from the passenger seat, yet fully accessible from the driver's seat. I spent last night hooking the unit up, so I can't write at length about the channels, programming, or quality of sound just yet.
Just wanted to share my technophile joy...

Hope you enjoy your Sirius… I sure do like mine! Funny though, I still listen to talk radio, but now I have a better selection. I get a little tired of the “Husky Honk” Show that is on the local sports radio, kind of nice to hear a variety of topics discussed.
Welcome to the satellite nation, my friend. I got a free XM vehicle system through work and I’ve been listening to that since before Christmas. It sure beats the Bozeman radio stations hands down. Besides, I get signal whenever and wherever I want… which isn’t a small feat when living in Montana. Oh, but I get signal inside my garage (one bar – but it’s enough). Enjoy the tunes… or talk radio… or comedy… or whatever it is that you are listening to. Ciao.
Did you get Sirius or XM? Denny now wishes he got XM. If I ever get one I’ll come to you for installation…Den has cords EVERYWHERE!
I have Sirius – I talked to a buddy of mine who had XM and said that he wished he would have gotten Sirius. Alex had Sirius and liked it, so with the evidence stacking up, the decision was easy. Wonder why Denny would prefer XM?
XM is pretty good… my only gripe is that I can’t listen to NFL games on it. But I’ve not listened to Sirius so I can’t really compare the two. It seems like XM is the satellite radio of choice around the Bozeman market. Although I’ve heard a few folks say they were going to switch over to Sirius now that Howard Stern is being broadcast.
