File this one under "Things you probably didn't know about Jess and Kami." Kami and I love 'da blues. We don't agree on much when it comes to music (including the appropriate volume for best appreciating it), but we both like the blues. I like the soul and the sound, she likes the various themes of reality woven into the lyrics of each song, and we both appreciate the "let it be" optimism, the inward glance of reflection, and the unconventional topics in the genre.
Tonight we're going to see Buddy Guy, a 70 year-old blues musician and guitarist (known to have been an influence on Jimi Hendrix). This will be the second concert we've attended together (the first was at a jazz venue), and I look forward to the experience. If you want to hear my two current favorite songs from Buddy, click HERE and on the player in the right hand corner skip to his version of "Ain't No Sunshine," and then take a listen to "What Kind of Woman is This." Good stuff.
In the interest of a little end-of-the-week levity, check out TrunkMonkey.com. The site is a catalogue of advertisements that were made by a Portland Ad Agency for an auto dealer. My favorites are the radio ad and the video entitled "Chaperone."

I feel jipped, my Impala only came with a year of Onstar… I kind of like the Theft Retrieval Trunk Monkey, too.
I, too, love the Blues. I’ve mostly been listening to Bluesville on my XM radio. Buddy Guy is fantastic. Carlos Del Junco is another Blues artist that you should plan to check out. His tune “Nine Below Zero” is one of the best examples of Blues Harmonica that I’ve ever heard.
