Daniel Wright is a standup comic who gets his material by looking at new patents filed at the USPTO and making fun of them, keeping track of the best on his blog, Patently Silly. Recent patents include the “Water Skipping Article Incorporating Elliptical Outline and Hollowed Interior Core,” a.k.a. “skipping rock.” Other items include the “Convertible Seat with Contoured-Front for Localized Body Heat Dispersion and Pressure Reduction,” a.k.a….well, I don’t know what I would call it, although it looks dangerous - like a seat with a guillotine.
