It’s been a marathon - a remodeling triathalon. Three coats of paint in the nursery before total coverage. I tried replacing the electrical outlets in the nursery as well, including replacing the switch with a dimmer, which resulted in a miraculous feat - everytime you dim the lights in the nursery, it also dims the lights in the master bedroom (I can only imagine Kami getting up to check on the baby at two in the morning and the light near my bed pulsing to life). Then today - a quick start on removing the popcorn on the ceiling of the family room (future office/family room). I hate popcorn, and today’s work hasn’t improved it’s favor with me. Five hours to remove all the popcorn, one hour to clean it up, another hour and half with a friend to texture the ceiling (as a light concealer). I still have a coat of primer and at least one coat of flat latex paint in my future, but for now writing this post is about all I can muster. It’s amazing how normal feats of homeownership can exhaust you entirely when your “work” consists of time spent in front of a computer or in a car or on the phone.
At least I should sleep well, right?

Well, did you? Sleep well, I mean.
The pride and satisfaction that this kind of work brings is worth the effort. The only bummer is that it is never really done. You wallow in the success of one project only to move into another room and see it in a whole new light. Or a life event (baby), transitions you into looking at your home differently.
I would debate on the writing of your last few sentences….it lead us to believe that the car, computer and phone we all SEPARATE areas of work, those that spend time with you know different:)
so, did you sleep ?
Yes - I did sleep well, and again the night after. I just finished a coat of primer, and I’m following up on some work before I can apply the coat of paint. After that we can start moving furniture back in and try to get our house back to some sense of normalcy. You should see the place now - looks like a warehouse - for those of you from Miles City, you know that white building next the Wool House Gallery that that odd duck owned and sold used appliances and antiques out of? Well, several rooms look a little like that. Can’t say I ever went in to that store, but you could tell from the street that you were taking your life into your hands by stepping in.
And for the record - is was only one coat of primer, but it was two gallons for that one coat. After that, two coats of latex paint (tinted purple when wet, dries white - awesome invention), one gallon per coat. The ceiling light is attached again and tomorrow we start assembling our new desk and moving the furniture around. The end is in sight…
Wish I lived closer to help you Jess.
mom
Glad we live so far away ;)Those Home Depot commercials make this stuff look too darn easy. “You can do it. We can help.” Who are they kidding? Still, it’s fun to follow your kid preparations!
