I love you, I love you, I love you. High-speed internet, I love you.
Kami and I have been on a family tour of Montana, flying into Billings, driving to Miles City, staying a few days, then back to Billings, then to Big Timber, and then flying out of Bozeman for home. The first four days were spent at my parent’s ranch in Miles City, which is well outside the range for any reasonable form of high-speed internet (nothing says rural like the wail of a dial-up connection). Just checking my email was a long and painful process, never mind thinking about the screens it would take to write a blog post. I did try to stay connected though - I use the blog to stay in touch with friends and old classmates - while in Miles City, I merely have to go to Wal-Mart to do the same.
We’re almost home, but in the meantime, I had to take this day to tell high-speed internet that I love it - though not nearly as much as I love my mom (Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms and moms-to-be).
I’ll post soon upon our return.

I’m hurt… you passed through Bozeman and didn’t call!
Seriously though, other than the dial-up, I hope you both had a wonderful time.
I’m with Aaron.
I knew this was coming.
Aaron - not in Bozeman yet, nor will we have a chance to “pop in” and say hi, seeing that our flight is on the afternoon of a weekday. Dan - flew into Billings, left for Miles City, back in Billings only long enough to drop off a rental car before family picked us up.
Sadly, because of our popularity, we aren’t able to visit all of our fans on a brief visit to Montana. Perhaps next time we’ll prepare by selling tickets to a raffle, where the winner will have a chance to take us to lunch. Would that make you all feel better?
I know it’s in jest, and I do wish that we could have seen more people. Time (and physics) just didn’t allow us to be in more than one place at once - nor in one given place for a good amount of time. Until they invent a wormhole that’s safe for travel, I recommend that everyone just forgives us for this indiscretion and plans their next trip out to the Puget Sound to visit us exclusively.
So you are going through some high speed internet withdrawls. I know the feeling! Even though I have it all around me I don’t have it in my new office. And as you can imagine that can cause some problems. So today I thought was the answer as my phone was being connected to my office. Unfortunately I was told by Verizon that I’d have to wait an additional 1-2 weeks.
So now I’ve gotten my verizon wireless phone hooked up with data and a “tethered modem” and “wha la” I’ve got high speed interet! Its pretty cool!
Glad to have you back Jesse and Kami. I am sure your DSL has missed you!
All i have to say is Jess Im disappointed that you didnt even visit on the fly over from Montana. And I thought we were friend. (Disclaimer: This is a joke and is intended to bring a smile to all who read it. Any offense is not intended and those offended shouldnt be so sensitive)
Jesse,
I recommend not going anywhere that does not have broadband. Call ahead if you have to. Make it a condition of your continued relationship with friends and family that they have broadband for at least the duration of your stay.
When you visit them, be sure to chat over IM from another room when interacting with the people you are visiting (use a webcam if it makes things more personable) instead of actual face-to-face interaction. Being in the same room is so “yester-tech.”
Also, when forced to actually speak to someone, make sure you throw in a few “lols” and “rofls” in spoken conversation.
