Kami goes back to work

Selah is six months old now, which marks an important stage of her development. Not just because she’s starting to develop a strong personality, nor because she’s become more aware of the existence of her tongue - but because after six months, Kami’s hiatus from Boeing is now over.
We don’t begrudge Boeing for anything. When you work for a corporate giant, you get used to a sense of entitlement from some of the employees. You won’t hear that from us. Boeing’s medical insurance, corporate policies, and an understanding management staff allowed Kami to spend the last six months tending to the development of our daughter. Even now they bless us by allowing Kami to work just three days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday), and by committing to limit her overtime so she can come home at a consistent time.
That leaves me to watch Selah for two days of the week and a friend to watch Selah on the third (thanks Erin!). So far it’s working well - I enjoy the extra time with Selah and it’s forcing me to put down work on a regular basis. There will be times when work can’t be avoided, but unless it’s absolutely necessary - it will have to be.
Thank you Kami, for relishing the past six months with your daughter, and for adapting back to work life.
Bless you guys. I am thankful Kami was able to
stay home too. And that you are prepared and
willing to watch Selah while Kami is at work.
Not every Dad could do that.

In my book the 3 of you have the perfect arrangement. Selah gets special one on one time with each of her parents (and they with her). Each of you get the experience of the adult world and the challenge of careers that you enjoy….while also making your time with one another and Selah more precious. And Selah experiences a brief time of her own independance at a trusted friends home.
All of life is about balance….in this season of parenting it appears that you’ve accomplished what many others would envy!
