Apparently I’m the one…

I’m not exactly sure what this says about me, but I haven’t been so excited for a new show since “The Office” (strike that - I guess it says a like fine British television). “Creature Comforts” debuted on CBS last night, and thanks to the wonders of Tivo, I watched it over breakfast this morning, pausing and rewinding while laughing and telling Kami that she had to watch. Kami does her best to protest, but eventually she relents, makes a face and humors her husband. And by “makes a face”, it’s not the endearing kind - but the “do you smell rotten garbage?” kind.
Anyway, for those that aren’t familiar, allow me to sell you on “Creature Comforts.” It’s a documentary of sorts - in that actual people are interviewed, and none of the voices are scripted. Using claymation, the voices are given an animal characterization, which makes the show funny on two levels: (1) someone actually says these things, and (2) the creators are geniuses at pairing the voice or subject matter with an animal in an environment that is either ironic or just plain comic genius. Take this clip [sorry - no longer available] for instance (sorry for those of you that have dial-up): it opens with what sounds like a recording of a wine-tasting, but when the characterization begins, the voices are…well, you’ll get it when you watch the clip.
And if you can’t watch the video above, try watching the actual show on Monday nights on CBS. It makes me laugh - HARD. My favorite is the bit with the lions, which starts at the 2:10 mark. Again - funny because an actual person came up with the answer, but even more hilarious given the context.

I’ll give a little credit - very little. It is some what funny, but mostly stupid in my opinion. The funniest part is hearing Jess laugh from the other end of the house!
I couldn’t get through it. I share Kami’s feelings. Sorry, Jess.
I DID think it was funny Jess!!
I liked the one of the snake and the “curiously” missing cat.
Jess, Im in CA doing training at UACC. I was just in the lunch room and a woman here was talking all about this show. Then I come and see you talking about it as well. I will have to watch it next week.
Jesse - I also thought the lions were the funniest part, but overall I wasn’t too impressed.
You did introduce me to The Office, which is one of the funniest shows ever on TV. But on Creature Comforts I’m with Kami; I just don’t get it.
