Anger caffeinated

“Blah blah blah blah dee blah…”
I’m sitting at a coffee shop, waiting for the other party of a business meeting to show up. My immediate concern is that I’m sitting in a privately-owned coffee shop. Sitting in a privately-owned coffee shop in this area can be dangerous, or at the very least, a test of wills. Right now my test is to not jab out my eardrums with my keys, listening to some trust-fund perpetual student older than me talk too loudly and using words like “regime” and “maximum disorder” and phrases like “converse with such things” (instead of “well-read”).
I just want to enjoy a cup of coffee, but this Michael Moore mouthpiece wearing a “High Performance Earth Friendly Servers” t-shirt is making my beverage bitter. Right now I’m reciting a memory verse to keep me from grabbing him by his soul-patch and dunking his unshaven face into his foamy soy latte.

…so I thought about editing my thoughts - maybe not even posting this, because some people that I care about might think that I’m too angry. I’m certain that all of us have thoughts like this from time to time, and usually we keep these thoughts to ourselves. That’s what makes us adults - this ability to think freely and censure the elements that aren’t appropriate. At the same time, if I want to write, I can’t always delete my posts. This post is visceral, and now that this patron has quieted, I find that I can taste my coffee again. I am not so much consumed with how I can hurt this man whose opinion I detest - but only entertaining the way in which I can describe the emotion he elicits creatively.
I was grinning as I read that post. Of course we all feel that way sometimes. I think what makes us adult is not acting on the impulse. I’m tickled that you put this out here.
Hey Jess, long time no post. I’m finding it harder to resist the urge to openly debate folks like the one described above. Trust-fund perpetual students like this guy often can’t think for themselves and only mouth the (often idiotic) opinions of others that they’ve read. It’s pretty easy to shut them down once they realize that they can’t back their assertions with facts. On an aside, I have a T-shirt that I picked up from an online Jerusalem store that shows and Israeli F-16 and the caption “America don’t worry. Israel is behind you”. You wouldn’t believe how often that shirt has led to debate with total strangers (or the number of dirty looks it generates).
I like that shirt, but THIS ONE is probably my favorite. I especially like that it’s available on a site like GunBroker.com - all the more appropriate.
Infidel. I like it.
We need to get together more. You obviously have not had a regular dose of liberalism lately. A reasonable dose on a regular basis will help you in many ways.
First, regular discussions with your adversaries help you hone your debate skills, and better focus your arguements to futher support your ridiculous beliefs.
Second, conversing with the opposite asile allows you to see through the fog of crap your side has created.
Third, I just got a kegerator, so the debates will be less heated (due to the cold beer) and more fun.
I am happy as always to show you the error of your thinking. But the guy in the coffee shop was likely how you described him and I would have been annoyed as well.
