This day, that day
Nov 12th, 2007 by Jesse Moore
I’m working on putting together a video on the Mac - but it’s going to take a little while. In the mean time, Kami came across some old letters that we wrote each other in college, including the first (and by most accounts - the only) song I ever wrote. I make no claims to it’s worthiness, literary or otherwise, but after a weekend retreat with the Cleansing Stream ministry, this seemed appropriate. I even learned how to play this on the piano. There wasn’t a lot of variety in the tempo or tone, but hey - what do you expect with your first song?
Is this the day?
The alarm is buzzing in my ear Peace and calm disappear Fear and chaos have their way with me Before the night has begun to flee Spilled my milk, burned the toast Don’t know which bothered me the most I want to find the bottom line Will pain and suffering always be mine? Lord, is this the day you’ve made for me Is this the way that it has to be I’ve lived my life, won’t you hear my plea And answer, is this the day you’ve made for me Fall in the sofa to watch some cable Notice her ring on the coffee table It’s been two weeks since it’s seen her finger Her memory never ceases to linger I fall to my knees as the tears start flowing Ask the Lord, “Are You here or am I going?” I can’t wake to another day like this Trapped in this wreckage called loneliness Lord, is this the day you’ve made for me Is this the way that it has to be I can’t live this life, don’t you hear my plea Then answer, is this the day you’ve made for me He awoke that day to save His people Bent down to pray, said “Make me able” Walked over to where His robe lie This is the morning He’s lived to die Took up His cross and put on His crown All of His enemies gathered around Pilate offered Barabbas instead Crowd said “We want Christ dead.” Father, is this the day you’ve made for me Is this the way that it has to be Give me the will to accept their plea And die… Is this the day you’ve made for me Jesus looked down over His people They thought grace was under the steeple While there He hung, blood run red For them He died, for them He bled For me He died, for me He bled (piano interlude) Now I wake up in the morning See the sun and heed the warning I want to live this life He’s saved I want to walk on the road He’s paved Lord, is this the day you’ve made for me Is this the way that it has to be You gave your life so that I might see All of the days You’ve made for me All of the ways You’ve cared for me All of my days will I believe Lord, this is the day you’ve made for me.
Buried treasure hmmmm?! One of your fans says “good job.” Is this just the beginning? Love Cathy.
Jess, I remember that song well.
I am glad you found the lyrics.
I think it was written in Eminor.
You might try finding it on the guitar. It is a great song.
love you, Mom
I know that song! I hope you don’t mind but I passed the lyrics on to a musician friend of mine (www.myspace.com/chrissmithonline) to see what he could do with it. I’ll be sure you get credit when he produces it and make millions.
