We all got home yesterday a little before 2pm – right before Selah’s nap time. I let Kami get settled in with David a little and then I went across the street to pick up Selah from our favorite neighbors :) I told Kami to have the video camera ready, so as soon as I got Selah free of her snow gear I could videotape the first meeting between brother and sister. I’m so glad that we did this, because it tells us so much about Selah’s character. She was super excited to hold her new brother, and she seems to know that this baby will be sticking around. I’ve posted a link below so you can all see their first meeting:

My dad hasn’t had many opportunities to get to know his grand-daughter, so Kami volunteered to take Selah over for the weekend. I had to stay and work, but before they left, Kami and Selah recorded a message on our camcorder. One of the things that I accompished in their absence included compiling a short video of Selah learning to say the names of some of her family members – and the message they left me before they left was too cute not to share. I posted the video on the Selah page, so click on the tab above to view.

I’m going to try not to post on the blog everytime we update the Selah page, so you’ll have to check it without our prompting from time to time. On the rare occassion I put a video together, I’m going to make sure people know about it!

I created a video earlier today using the ‘08 iMovie software, which has largely been panned in comparison to it’s earlier version. After wrestling with the software, I can understand why. Luckily I was able to revert to the previous version to create the next video, which I felt was good enough to share. Sorry to those that don’t have a connection that supports streaming video. Hope everyone else enjoys this video of Selah at play. Oh – and turn your volume down – it plays a little loud if your volume is high.

This is why we bought a video camera – hoping that we would be able to capture some of Selah’s milestones on tape. This was taken two weeks ago, and captures Selah’s first crawl. Kami wanted to make sure that I explained Selah’s hair in the first clip: we aren’t trying to make her look like a unicorn – Selah had just pulled out a hair tie that was holding a pigtail at the top of her head.No one’s a bigger fan of Selah than Selah herself. She was completely enthralled when I made this, and re-enacted almost every sound as it played back.

Selah may have more of Kami’s looks, but there are parts of Selah’s mannerisms that are distinctly from her father. Like me, she gets exceedingly cranky when she’s overtired or underfed. I can’t claim all of these mannerisms though – some of these are uniquely her own…

This might be a little slow in the beginning, but Selah gets more entertaining as the video goes on. Selah’s a little over five months old now, and just rolled over for the first time last week, so the days of us videotaping her in a stationary position are soon to end.
